Date of Birth Calculator
Enter your date of birth to find your exact age in years, months, days — plus your next birthday countdown.
About the Date of Birth Calculator
Your date of birth is the single piece of information needed to work out a surprising amount: your precise age, how long until your next birthday, which day of the week you were born on, and how many days you have been alive. This date of birth calculator takes your DOB and returns all of it instantly, with a live count that ticks forward as you watch.
Working out an exact age by hand is fiddly because months have different lengths and leap years add an extra day every four years. Simply subtracting years gives a rough figure but is often a day or two out — which matters for official forms, eligibility checks, and milestone planning. The calculator accounts for the real calendar, so the age it shows is accurate to the day.
People use it to fill in forms that ask for an exact age, to plan birthdays and anniversaries, to check age-based eligibility, or just out of curiosity about the numbers behind their lifetime. Enter any date of birth — yours or someone else’s — and everything is computed privately in your browser, with nothing saved or sent anywhere.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate age from a date of birth?
Subtract the date of birth from today’s date, accounting for the differing lengths of months and for leap years. This calculator does that automatically and shows your exact age in years, months and days — more precise than simply subtracting birth year from the current year.
Does the calculator account for leap years?
Yes. Leap years add a 29 February every four years, which a simple subtraction can miss. The calculator uses the real calendar so your day-level age and your days-alive total stay accurate, including across leap years.
Can I calculate someone else’s age?
Absolutely. Enter any date of birth and the calculator returns that person’s exact current age along with their next birthday countdown. It works for any date — a child’s, a relative’s, or a historical figure’s — and keeps everything private in your browser.
Understanding Age Calculation
Why exact age is harder than it looks
Calculating age precisely means accounting for the irregular calendar. Months range from 28 to 31 days, and a leap year inserts an extra day every four years (with exceptions at century boundaries). Subtracting birth year from the current year ignores whether this year’s birthday has passed and skips these calendar quirks, so it can be a day or more out. Counting from the actual date of birth, as this tool does, gives an age accurate to the day.
Different ways age is counted
Most countries use the "Western" system, where you are zero at birth and turn a year older on each birthday. But other traditions count differently — in some East Asian reckoning systems a person can be considered one year old at birth, for example. When a precise, internationally understood figure is needed, the date-of-birth method used here — completed years, months and days since birth — is the unambiguous standard.
When an exact age is useful
A precise age matters for official forms, age-based eligibility (school entry, licences, pensions, insurance), medical dosing and milestone planning. It is also simply interesting to see your age expressed in months, weeks, days or seconds. Because the calculator works for any date of birth and keeps everything in your browser, you can check your own or someone else’s without sharing the data anywhere.
